Sprint, again

They never lowered my bill or gave me my credits so I called back... added a $70 credit to Cathy's line so I can upgrade both phones today - spoke with Cindy. She transferred me to Fabian and he gave me my $20 monthly credit, but took off my 10%. Would've been nice to have both like Billy promised, but oh well. I still save any extra like... $11 a month.

I don't know why EVERYONE hates Sprint so much... their customer service is getting better and so is their reception. I'm getting a Samsung Moment today and upgrading my little sister to the Instinct s30... woot. Wanted the Hero originally but there's no place for a little cell phone charm and what's a Korean girl to do without that??!!?

Sleeping

I don't really know when this happened, but my sleeping pattern has changed... It's 3 am and I'm up and as awake as I am at noon. How odd. Maybe it's because I was deathly ill the last 10 days or so. Would go to sleep around 3 or 4 and wake up at noon. It's really hindering my productivity... (that sounds so familiar) I don't believe my neighbor would enjoy me blasting music, cleaning and vacuuming at 2 in the morning... so instead, I sign on to Youtube and just watch crap for hours. I've managed to clean my room - which my mom approves of, via Skype. I have quartet practice tomorrow morning, so I'm sure that I will be able to clean it all in time.

Went to a pumpkin patch place and bought fresh apple cider on Saturday. Bought 2 gallons, left both in the fridge and while we were drinking the 1st gallon, the 2nd somehow went bad and fermented. I had a small apple cider explosion to clean up in my fridge and $5 worth of apple cider to pour down the drain. Weird - it's not supposed to ferment that quickly, is it? Really wonder what went wrong.

Going to cook lunch for the quartet tomorrow... as well as decide on business cards and such. It will be a busy day and hopefully, very productive. I will be trying out a new recipe for Lemon Spaghetti and will tell you all how it goes. Hopefully, fabulously.

Re-loving: Hellogoodbye - Baby it's fact

Youtube channels I subscribed to today:

Mobilitytoday
Maangchi
Miaarose

(didn't mean to do just "M"s... things just happen that way)

Maangchi has been my favorite for a long time, I just never signed on to subscribe, but I was at the Korean market today and was talking to some woman and was telling her how much I loved Maangchi and that she should look her up. How terrible of me if I don't even favorite her myself! So, I did, and there. Dilemma is over.

Okay, time to at least attempt to sleep since I'll be up in a few hours to clean for rehearsal. Ick. But yay. HOPEFULLY, we'll be playing the Grieg String Quartet in G minor, Op. 27... It's pretty much amazing. Look it up if you're interested. It's basically just a mouthful of "WOW".

Once a year

There are tons of things people do once a year... some people make resolutions (to be broken several times a year), some people sleep in, some people do a good deed, some people volunteer...

Then, there are things that happen to you once a year... Like, today. I was woken up at 6am to THUNDEROUS booming sounds. Not reminiscent of the booms from cars that sounded like they were going to explode from when I lived back in "da hood", but a very in-time, very well-practiced kind of booming. Oh... it's the band invitational. You know, where every band known to man shows up and competes against one another. Joyous rapture. I'll be listening to mediocre high school marching bands from now until the end of time... (Does anybody know when that is, by chance?) I need to go get some coffee until then.

Anywho, I know it's been a while since I've blogged. *not that anyone is reading* But, I've been suuuppppeeerrrrr busy with everything. Work, quartet, life - you know. Last week was homecoming for Cathy and I got stuck baby-sitting the kids at the dance instead of going out to have my own party. Super duper lame.

Am I complaining? I sure feel like I am. So, I'll shut up now and get ready to teach.

Current Sound: Out of tune scales with Dvorak's New World Symphony in the background (also done by a phenomenal marching bad... I mean, band) There is also that AWESOME sound in the farther background sound that sounds similar to beating on tin trash cans and throwing metal recyclables around...

Current Mood: Looks a little something like this: o.O

Stupid People on the Line

Why do companies let incompetent people talk on the phone? I  called Sprint today to see what my pricing would be on the new Touch Pro 2 as well as if they could offer me any other discounts - and here's what happened:

1) Talked with a guy who said I could get the Touch Pro 2 for 199.99 today if I extended my contract, as well as a $70 credit on each of my lines. Really? I say... I double check, he says he's right, I agree.

2) He transfers me to the telesales department so I can buy the phone, the lady says no, he was wrong. You pay $450 and get $100 mail-in rebate in 2 months. WTF. That's totally different from what this punk kid just told me.

3) I say, ok, then I want to undo my contract renewal since you obviously have the terms all messed up. The lady says, you already agreed to the credit so we can't undo that. Bitch keeps trying to sell me the phones anyway. I say she doesn't know what she's doing and need to be transferred.

4) On hold for a million hours while I blog this....

Interim thought: FUCK YOU, Sprint. I hate you for this.

5) Wonderful Billy gets on the phone, and of course, I'm stuck with Sprint again. HOWEVER, he takes off Cathy's contract renewal, gives me an $80 credit instead of $70... and the BEST part... he lowers my plan to $110 instead of the $130 I'm currently paying... WITH an additional 10% off my bill every month.  Okay, so he was super. I'm happy-er and going to go shopping for a new phone!

Yay, Billy.

FUCK YOU, Sprint. Not that I don't like you... but I could have gotten an Iphone at that price.

11:30

I'm in bed at the moment, but only because my house has turned into the Arctic over night. I woke up at 7, ate a bowl of cereal, practiced, then went for a run. =) *claps* productivity! yay!

I'm still trying to figure out if I want to go with ATT or not. Is it worth the extra $400 I'll be paying a year?

Taking more classes this winter just for fun. Am I stupid? Anyway~

Gonna leave now to go to the mall to check in to ATT and then to Icing to maybe buy a ring. To Sears to visit Mrs. B then to work!

Gaarrrrrrrr. Happy Wednesday.

It's true

I'd be so much more productive if I didn't have to spend half my time fixing things my sister breaks around the house... GRR *angry*

If you call, I won't answer

It's not because I don't like you or anything... but it's really becoming a problem with my ringtones. I get ringtones of songs I really like... and when you call, they play - so I listen. I listen to my favorite part, and you've been kicked to my voicemail. This is really becoming a problem... because even when the phone is in my hand, I'm not good at calling back. *laughs*  Still debating whether I should get an iphone or not. Grr.

Please; after you, reputation

Today, I played at a wedding, and on our way back to our cars, one of my quartet members told me that she's been hearing a lot of really good things about me and my teaching. *BIG smile* It's nice to hear that... I wish you all could also hear the voicemail one of the parents left for me. It's been a phenomenal week! (as far as teaching, anyway) I love my schedule this fall - I have some of the most amazing students! *claps*

Anywho... enough about that, really.

My stupid water dispenser broke T.T and now I'm stuck with piping hot water all the time. I've decided that I will try to take it apart to see what happens... Gonna go practice now.

Good at not winning

Current Song: Fireflies by Owl City on ||: repeat :||

Okay... so I've been uber unsuccessful on my couch search - which makes me believe that maybe I need to stop. I did, however, have a run-in with a real "winner" of a lady when I bought a slipcover for my awesome ghetto lazy boy off of, of course, Craigslist. I called the lady when I was about 5 minutes from her house and she said she was on her way out and this was the conversation that followed...

Me: Oh, I'm sorry. I can be there in 5 minutes.
Her: I'll just leave it on the front porch - you can leave your money.
Me: I've only got a $20
Her: Well, the truth is, we had it listed on there for $20 until yesterday and just lowered it to $15
Me: I see... *rummaging for a 5 and 10... or some dollar bills... while thinking, WTF - I saw 15, that's what I'm paying - who gives a crap about your truth????*
Her: Well. I have $2. Would you mind paying $18?
Me: Well, I wouldn't have driven across town at $18. I'll try to leave the $15. Thanks.
Her: Ok... But we'll leave the change just in case.

So... I come home, minus $20...

ONLY because I have Chinese take-out in my other hand. ^_______^
(that's an "asian smiley-con" btw)

I'm still angry because there's a piece missing from it but I have a solution for that... and because it's a secret, I won't be sharing that with you!
I also missed out on a chance on a GREAT sectional today... but eh. It'll all come in time! I know it will. ONE thing at a time... *deep breath*

Okay, time for productivity.

More Lists

I have a million lists in my house... groceries, things I should remember, vocabulary I should learn, vocabulary I forgot I knew, to-do, to-clean, to-organize, to-do for students, to-do for quartet, to-do for church: choir and praise band... etc.

I'm sure you've got the idea.

Here's one more list:

Things I want to do... in no particular order

  1. Learn to speak Mandarin aka "Chinese"
  2. Go on American Idol
  3. Learn to speak Russian
  4. Be amazing on the piano
  5. Re-learn French
  6. Re-learn Spanish
  7. Be more organized
  8. Travel to more countries than I know of
  9. Spend one day just lounging around
  10. Go on a cruise
  11. Eat one of those GIANT lollipops I see kids buy from Disney World
  12. Go to Disney World (in Tokyo)
  13. Be able to improvise on violin like I do when I sing
  14. Be a better singer
  15. Maybe... make a small cut on an album? =) In my dreams, I know... but that's what dreams are made of!
  16. Stop making so many damn lists
  17. Read a million books
  18. Build and design my own house
  19. Design other people's homes
  20. Plan a wedding (not mine, of course)
  21. Fold 1000 paper cranes
  22. Have everything in my house, matching, the way I want it
  23. Go scuba diving
  24. Go surfing
  25. Dunno about climbing a mountain, but it would be great to be dropped off at the top just for the view
  26. Walk the Great Wall
  27. Visit the ice caps before they all melt away
  28. Learn how to sew
  29. Fix up an old car
  30. Learn how to use a saw
  31. Build things in my house... You know... like bookshelves, cabinets, desks...
  32. Not procrastinate so much... (funny and ironic how it's the last one on the list, eh?)

Okay, so that's enough of a list. I'll have a hard enough time crossing things off that list. My parents always said that if you have the money, why not just hire someone to do it for you? Well, I'm not really a fan of that philosophy. I like learning and LOVE doing things hands-on. I love to build and be all crafty like Martha - who, of course, is an icon of mine. Anyway... it makes me want to be able to build and do things. I'm so absolutely jealous of carpenters... ooh Jesus, you crafty person you.

I'm thinking of making my own headboard... since, I just have my giant bed sans headboard or footboard now. It'll be great - I'm sure. Just have to decide on a color scheme... and if I really do want to go through with it. I'm thinking more about just painting the wall - but we'll see. My penguin collection might be a bit difficult for me to take apart in order to paint the aforementioned wall. Headboard it is! Now... to sleep... Rehearsal... Lowes... and all those good things, baby.

Current Mood: Meh - could have been more productive!

Finish

I can't see the end of anything...

EXCEPT...

tv shows.

Ugh.

1 am and I'm up watching the food network.

What happened to practicing piano???

*sigh*

Phone

Current Song: The Special K commercial jingle (since I'm watching TV)
I LOVE: Black Raspberry Vanilla (or something like that) lotion from Bath and Body Works

I went couch shopping today and the only couch I found that I liked was this amazing L-shaped couch that cost more than a pretty penny. It was more like 100,000 pretty pennies (and some not-so-pretty ones). Plus, I wasn't even sure that it would seat all my wonderful friends when it came down to it! "It can't be worth the money," I thought. So, then I start looking for other places to spend the money. Like, on a new phone!

I bought a new phone last Christmas - the Samsung Instinct - which, is really not that bad. BUT, I've been dying for the HTC Touch Pro or a Blackberry. I really want(ed) an Iphone, but would hate to switch carriers. So... this dilemma now... I think I'd prefer the HTC, but can't decide whether or not I should get the new Touch 2 or get the older, touch pro. Gar. I've been emailing this guy on craigslist (which, if you haven't figured out yet, is the new ebay). He's selling his old touch pro for $180. I'm seriously considering buying it... I do mean, SERIOUSLY. I mean... I'll be making a couple hundred bucks this weekend playing at weddings. I deserve to spend it, right? Ugh. I know my mom would NOT approve - but that's what my daddy is for! It's good to be daddy's little girl.

Not to say I don't work hard! I mean... I really do pay all my own bills and bought my... well, everything. Just little splurges like this - so close to... erm... Christmas? Yes, that's it. It'll be my Christmas present to me! *joy and rapture* I know that nobody is reading my blog, but it sure would be nice to get some feedback on the phones so I wouldn't have to look it up myself... I have piano to practice.

Dunno why I don't get tired till late, but it sure makes me glad I bought all electric instruments so I don't bother the neighbors. I know everyone thinks the violin sounds great - but it doesn't sound great when I'm practicing something I've never seen before.

Ergh. I've gotta get ready for auditions. GREs... auditions... placement tests... It's too bad all I can think about is that fabulous couch and my *possibly* new phone. I should've been a designer. *laughs*

Okay. Now I MUST practice. Jenny, out.

#1 - Whether Weather

If you're reading this: I'm sure you've nothing better to do - but, you may find me a bit interesting... Or so I've heard.

I'm going to try and keep a blog. Doesn't matter how often I update; just the fact that I will consistently keep one. Yes!

I will write about:
  • penguins!
  • recipes
  • websites
  • singers/songs
  • random musings
  • quite possibly my feelings... blah

Okay, so anyway... On to what I'm going to write about for real today.

Whether Weather

Right now, I have Crazy Eyes by Dave's True Story on ||: repeat :||

Penguin of the Day: http://www.thedesignblog.org/entry/penguin-tea-timer-for-that-perfectly-brewed-tea/

I'm a little crazy and can't decide what to do... I absolutely ADORE soft, jazzy music but find it terribly depressing (in a good way) as well. How well it suits the weather today though! I can't decide whether to listen to this music even though the weather outside foils the music and makes it worse or to just listen to something else.

Considering I'm a classically-trained, professional violinist - my colleagues say I listen to trash. I say, it's just eclectic. I mean, to teach well and know what my students are thinking, I have to listen to their music too, right? I do love me some crap pop music though... (not gonna lie)

It's a little drizzly... I rolled out of bed around 9, stayed in my pjs, drank a cup of hot green tea while organizing my millions of drawers full of crap (I'll take a picture someday). I had a garage sale... 3 weekends in a row to try to rid some clutter from my life and was only mildly successful in my task. Now... what do I do about the 10,000 purses, shoes and accessories I have left? I went through my house and started finding all my earrings. I really do have about a million pairs. What do I do with them? I've recently made so many trips to the salvation army, goodwill, and other such donation centers that they know me by name. *that, deserves a little smile*

On a COMPLETELY different note: I have to leave for work at 2. Decided that I'm sick of my couches not matching... and figured - why not help the failing economy? Not that the economy isn't failing me as well, but you really can't stop a shopaholic.

Ok... so... giving *stars* for difficulty
  1. Gotta find a home for all my old stuff ***
  2. Find a set of matching couches that I can afford *****(**********)
